Owner's Message

The Old Hickory House has been in operation in Atlanta for over 50 years and has become a citywide institution. Since its opening on Northside Dr. in 1953, Old Hickory House has dished out over 3 million gallons of Brunswick Stew and over 10 millions gallons of BBQ sauce. Former President Jimmy Carter was such a fan of Old Hickory House, he had Brunswick stew and BBQ flown to the White House! We serve a classic Southern breakfast everyday, weekdays till noon, weekends till 2pm, at our two locations in Dunwoody and Tucker.

I tried this place 3 times. I liked the BBQ ribs and the fried okra, but the cabbage, greens, potato salad, BBQ chicken, fruit cobbler and mac and cheese all needed a little help. If you are not use to bland food then this may not be for… Read more »

This by far is some of the worst BBQ i have ever eaten. The french fries were the best thing I ate and I normally do not eat fries. The sauce had a strong flavor of dehydrrated onion and the pork and beef were very dry. The ribs wer okay… Read more »

I had better BBQ at Chili's and other chain restaurants. \r Very friendly service but the food does not live up to its hype. \r BBQ was average, and don't understand how anyone thinks it's the best BBQ all around. Read more »

    The Scene
A faux-country decorative scheme and fluorescent-lit hominess rule here, with every known shade of brown predominating. Little about the restaurant has been updated in decades, and regulars--the "old" in Old Hickory… Read more »

The food was OK - nothing special. The ribs were small and lacking in the meat department. The BBQ sauce is pretty good but nothing special. Side dishes were fairly average as well.\r \r You can do worse but you can definitely do better. Read more »

Best chopped pork, BBQ sauce, and Baby back ribs in Atlanta. Let's not forget the Brunswick stew, which is best in the nation. Forget that Tenn. w/ their cole slaw on the sandwich, and Low Country Crap w/ vinegar on everything, if you want… Read more »
